Thoughts on your keeper league team!!!

Welcome to my FF keeper league blog!

This blog is to help all of us rate our respective teams going into next year.  Obviously if you're here then you follow fantasy football fairly regularly.  Feel free to post your keeper team for reviews, opinions, trade offers, trades you are thinking of proposing, etc.

Make sure to post positions that you must start ever week as well as scoring format because that could change things when evaluating your team.  Hopefully this blog can open up a good dialog to make us all better team owners!

Thoughts on your keeper league team!!!

What you didn't say was how many keepers were you required or allowed to take?  In my keeper leagues (in any sport), the way we've figured is the easiest and fairest to do it is to have the new teams pick up their keepers prior to the draft from the free agent pool.  So, similar to what you are looking at.  That's really the only way to do it unless you disband every team and start from scratch.

Example:  we brought a new guy into our football and basketball league this year (3 keepers in every sport, except baseball which is 5 I believe) and he picked up his 3 keepers before the draft begins (sorta like having 1st 3 picks), then the draft starts as normal.  He doesn't get first pick either, it's where the team finished the year before.

Thoughts on your keeper league team!!!

I am in a 12 team keeper league where we are allowed to keep all the players on our roster from year to year.
We have 4 RB's on our roster at all times, so the free agent pool is thin at best for most part.

In our scoring system, the RB's receive 1 point for every 5 carries, 1 point for evey 10 yards gained, 1 point pre reception, 1 point for every 10 yards receiving and 6 points per TD.

My RB's consist of Knowshon Moreno (Den), Pierre Thomas (NO), Justin Forsett (Sea), and Arian Foster (Hou).

There are some RB's in the free agent pool I am considering picking up for next year.
Those players are  Steve Slaton (Hou), James Davis (Cle), Darren McFadden (Oak) and Marshawn Lynch (Buff)

MY QUESTION IS:
With the way our scoring system works, which player in the pool should I consider picking up to replace Arian Foster who I beleive does not hold any value in a keeper league.

After the season is done, we then drop players we don't want to keep 2 weeks before our annual draft in late August. I have the 8th pick in next years draft and don't anticipate any rookie running backs or even quality running backs available because of the high priority they hold in our league.
I would appreciate any and all comments or suggestions......Thanks  Smile

Thoughts on your keeper league team!!!

I am just finishing up my rookie season in a traditional 10 team PPR league. It's a blast. I'm in the playoffs and I made it there with Forte, Jennings, and Megatron so I feel I've already won...
Question- I am going to be joining a keeper league. The league is expanding two teams to make it a 12 team league. You cannot keep any kept players from two years ago, and you can't keep any of last year years first rounders. That being said, what is the most fair way to add teams and what players should fairly be available. They want to give me and the other newly added team the first two picks of the draft and those would be our first round picks. It does not seem fair to us. It also does not seem fair to let us pick a player to keep, and still keep our first round pick. Opinions? I was thinking it would be fair to let us keep a player that was kept from the "two-year ago" pool. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thoughts on your keeper league team!!!

I've got 2 keeper leagues that I play in, both with different keeper rules.  Both of them are pretty standard in scoring (non-PPR) with a lot of bonuses (i.e. +5 pts if over 100-yards rushing, receiving; long TD bonuses, etc).  Standard roster limits as well (15 players) and traditional starting position limits.
1 - You have to keep 3 players and these players count as rounds 1-3.  If you have crappy keepers, tough luck, you have to keep 3.  So basically you have to keep guys who are, or would be top 3 round picks.  This year I didn't have the best keepers, but going into next year so far the guys I have targeted are:
  • SJax
  • Ray Rice
  • Jamaal Charles
  • Fred Jackson
2 - You're allowed to keep one (don't have to) player and the player counts as a draft pick 2 rounds prior to the previous year.  You can't keep anyone in first 3 rounds drafted.  So, for example, this year I selected Ray Rice with my 10th round pick.....next year he will be my 8th round pick, then 6th round and so on until he gets to a point where I can't keep him.  Other than Rice, the only other person outside of the first 3 rounds who might be a keeper would be Brandon Marshall at round 6 (this year, round 4 next year).  This is a money league too, with some pretty darn good payouts....the first one is just basically for fun with very small payouts.

What's your take?

Thoughts on your keeper league team!!!

I say Forte and Bowe are definite, but then I would still go with Rice.  Grant is good, but plays for a passing team and is going to cost a 3rd rounder, and you can most likely redraft him.  Eddie Royal might be nice if Marshall gets traded but he still has Orton throwing him the ball, and he is no Cutler.  Rice might be the starter depending on McGahee who is often injured, and the Ravens drafted Rice to be a starter, so they might split carries to start the season but then you will see Rice start to take over, and they moved the other rb McClain to fb.  If you can get good value for a trade with Dmac do it, and you can throw in a 20th rounder, who, you have some good ones to sweeten the pot, I would expect a no 1 rb or wr.  So good luck and let me know what you decide.

Thoughts on your keeper league team!!!

thanks alot for the help billy!!  i am no doubt keeping forte.  the other two are up in the air.

bowe should be awesome, and so should eddie royal.  but idk about keeping 2 Wrs. but on the other hand, I'd have a #1 and #2 WR and only give up my 8th and 20th round picks.

rice should be good, but is he even starting?  I could probably re-draft him in rounds 5-9.

what you think ray rice for 13th round or eddie royal for 20th round?

some have suggested keeping 3 RBs:  Grant, DMc, and Forte....

remember its PPR...which bring up Royal and DMc's value too..

i am getting some trade offers for DMc, so hopefully i can move him to narrow it down.

Thoughts on your keeper league team!!!

Matt Forte is a definite along with D. Bowe for an eight round pick and Ray Rice for a thirteenth rounder.  I say them because you are getting alot of value with how good these players are for the rounds you are giving up to get them.  All three of them players are first five round picks.  If you wanna take a gamble you can go with McFad but I say if you want him that bad you should be able to re draft him at the 5th pick.  He hasnt proved anything yet and neither has his team, and giving up the fourth round pick is a wash you arent going to get any value there.  Rice is going to get the bulk of the carries for a running team, and he showed alot of promise last year as a rookie, he is going to have a good year, even if you just keep him for a backup.  Bowe is a no 1 reciever without a doubt, and your only giving up an 8th rounder, thats another no brainer, just like Forte.  Good luck hope my opinions are helpful.

Thoughts on your keeper league team!!!

1)  RB - A. Peterson, MIN
2)  RB - L. Tomlinson, SD
3)  QB - T. Brady, NE
4)  WR - D. Bowe, KC
5)  RB - D. McFadden OAK

Morticus, I would keep exactly those 5.  If you want to gamble a bit, keep Ginn or Moss as well.  But if you think you can get a better WR in the 6th round, then don't keep either.  I am actually torn on keeping McFadden or Bowe, myself.  I'd love to keep them both.  What do you think?

I am in a 10 team head to head PPR keeper league.  Standard scoring, 1 point per reception, all TDs 6 points.  This is the 1st year that we have keepers.  Teams must keep at least 1 player, and up to 3 players.  Rookies (from last year. i.e. Forte, Royal) may be kept for up to 4 years.  All other players may be kept for up to 3 years.  You lose the pick your keepers were drafted in(i.e. I keep Forte, I lose my 7th round pick).  Players drafted in rounds 1 and 2 can not be kept.

We start this lineup:
1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB/WR/TE, 1 K, 1 DST

These are my eligible keepers with their draft values:

ND420R's

M.Cassel 20
J.Flacco 20
D.McFadden 4
M.Forte 7
R.Rice 13
S.Morris 20
W.Dunn 20
R.Grant 3
A.Bryant 20
D.Bowe 8
D.Hixon 20
D.Avery 20
E.Royal 20
Sa.Moss 9
T.Gonzalez 5

Which 3 should I keep??
1. Forte. no brainer.
2.  ??
3.  ??

Guys like Slaton, Chris Johnson, MJD, Turner, Pierre Thomas, Deangelo Williams, Jacobs, Bush, Ryan, Marshall, Boldin are all keepers for other teams. I have the 5th pick in the draft, snake-style.

I was considering Grant, DMC, Rice, Royal, Bowe, Avery, and Cassel.   I can pick two from there.  Remember it is PPR, and we lose the picks for the keeper values.  So.....What does everyone think??

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!!  I have to turn in my keepers this week!

Thoughts on your keeper league team!!!

Very strong in RB and WR areas. Ronnie is a big threat of another breakout season. Larry will have an even stronger season than last year and Randys number should be revamped with the return of Tom Brady. If both Matt Schaub and Carson Palmer are able to stay healthy, both can have very promising seasons.  John Carlson is a great Tight End, onlu question is will the Seattle Seahawks have a quarterback to throw him the ball. There isnt really an impact Kicker, so it shouldnt be too much of an issue to add one.

Thoughts on your keeper league team!!!

Wait you start 10 players a week and your roster only consist of 12 players, that sucks.  You have to keep Peterson, Tomilnson, and Brady.  I would probally keep Bowe alsp because your hurting at wr and I dont believe there will be anyone much better than him put back in the draft.  McFadden might be good trade bait before the draft.  Give up McFad with Ginn Moss or Holt for a better wide out that you can pair with Bowe.  Might be able to get a TO or a DeSean Jackson.  Good luck.  What do you think about my league on a previous post.  Thanks.
